When Preston came to pick me up, I was waiting on the porch, trying to avoid prying eyes. I was thirty-four years old and still my family was acting like this was my first date. Nosy assholes. Even Cami and Stephen were hanging out, trying to get a glimpse of what my mother called my “new beau.”

I slid into Preston’s car the minute it pulled to a stop in the driveway. It was some fancy foreign model, what a shock. Not. The car was fussy and pretentious, just like its owner. I wondered again why I’d agreed to this.

Because you’re hoping for more orgasms, my conscience reminded me.

I still wasn’t sure what had happened when I ran into Preston in the woods. One minute he was rubbing against my legs in his wolf form, the next minute he was pounding me into a tree. It had easily been the hottest experience of my life. I’d come so hard I could still feel it.

But then the orgasm haze had faded, and I remembered that he was some snobby rich guy who didn’t like me too much. A guy who dated tall skinny models who were barely legal and probably ordered three leaves of lettuce when he took them to dinner.

If only I could keep the orgasm part and not have to deal with the snobby and irritating personality...

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“I thought we’d drive into Denver,” he said. “I got us reservations at La Petite Rouge.”

I huffed in annoyance.

“Look Richie Rich, I’m not dressed for some fancy schmancy place. I need to go somewhere where dinner is more than two bites of food arranged artfully on china.”

“Do you have something better in mind?” he asked mildly.

I pointed to Main Street. “Go that way.”

I directed Preston to the highway, heading away from Denver. After ten minutes of driving, we reached a small town that had some of the best food in Colorado.

“Pull off here,” I directed. We drove through the small downtown area, which was very similar to Greysden, and ended up near a battered dock. My favorite taco cart was set up next to the lake, surrounded by picnic tables. A hand painted sign on the side of the cart read “Cortez Tacos”. Christmas lights were strung between the cart and the nearby power poles, ready to be illuminated when it got dark out.

“We’re eating here?” Preston asked dubiously as we exited the car.

“Trust me.” I threaded my fingers through his and pulled him towards the long line of people waiting for their food. The Cortez Tacos cart was legendary in these parts.

I was wearing a little skater dress – my go-to during the summer. This one was a deep purple with geometric shapes in shades of red and blue. I’d paired it with my red cowboy boots and several pieces of jewelry made out of beads and crystals. I’d straightened my hair, leaving it long over my shoulders.

Meanwhile Preston was wearing navy blue dress pants with a pristine white button-up with only one button open.
